Be aware of moving parts at all times – ensure you do not have loose clothing, long hair, or other items which may become entangled and pose the following risks: nicks, traps, or loss of extremities; injection from moving parts or objects; ejection of material from normal and abnormal conditions; impact (being struck by or against, or drawn into, moving parts or machinery).

Beware of hot and cold surfaces.

Beware of mechanical, static or pressurised energy (e.g. hydraulic, pneumatic, air and gas).

Be aware of fluids which may be ejected from work equipment as these may be hot or flammable. Also be aware that some work equipment (i.e. drills or lathes) may result in items being ejected at high speed.

Ensure you are not exposed to any electrical conductors. If you have to work on electrical equipment or systems, you must be trained and competent.

Don’t get struck by engine covers and parts of equipment during strip down or assembly.

If noise is too loud it can damage your hearing and cause communication difficulties with others. Ensure that you are aware of and adhere to any PPE requirements when working in high noise areas.
