Safe Driving

Here are some of the considerations that you need to keep in mind when driving for work:

Insurance

Carry a valid insurance that covers business use if you are using your own vehicle.

Driving License

Carry a valid driving license for the vehicle and country in which you are driving.

Driving Codes

Comply with legislation and driving codes for the country in which you are driving.

Vehicle Maintenance

Make sure that the vehicle is adequately maintained.

Controls

Be familiar with vehicle controls.

Training Courses

Attend any specific driving training requested by the company.

Seat Belt

Make sure that everyone in the vehicle wears a seat belt.

Driver Safety Leaflet

Read the Driver Safety Leaflet from the tool box of the Driving for Work Control Standard HSE CS 04.

Ability to Drive

Inform your manager about any circumstances that affect your ability to drive safely.

Reporting Incidents

Tell your manager about any incident that caused harm to you or others, or any damage to vehicles.

Handheld Devices

Do not use handheld devices whilst driving.

Control Standard

Comply with the requirements of the Control Standard, which is monitored and reviewed within business and assurance programmes.
